This somewhat dated book is an odd but appealing mix of electric vehicle history up until 1990 plus chapters on engineering to satisfy the geek within. (Not surprising, given that it's published by the Society of Automotive Engineers.) Chapters on propulsion methods, power electronics, batteries, charging systems, and vehicle design get into the nitty gritty of how these cars work.
